Casino owner Ballin Mundson (George Macready) orders his right-hand man, Johnny Farrell (Ford), to keep an eye on his beautiful new wife, Gilda (Hayworth). Ballin is unaware, however, that Johnny and Gilda are former lovers who are now full of contempt for one another.
