Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman star in this classic American drama based on the Stephen King story. Accountant Andy Dufresne (Robbins) is sent to prison in the 1940s for the murder of his unfaithful wife and her lover, despite maintaining his innocence. As he slowly comes to terms with the injustices of the corrupt prison system, he quietly inspires some of his fellow prison inmates to have a more positive outlook on life. Meanwhile, the Governor of the prison discovers Dufresne's book-keeping talents and recruits him to do a spot of creative accountancy. Fellow inmate, ageing gangster 'Red' (Freeman), uses his connections to take care of Dufresne's material needs, and narrates the story of his friend's term in jail through to the late 1960s.

Alfred Hitchcock directs this classic horror starring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins. Secretary Marion Crane (Leigh) goes on the run after stealing $40,000 from one of her employer's clients. Taking a wrong turn in a storm, she arrives at the isolated Bates Motel, run by the twitchy Norman (Perkins), who is constantly at the beck and call of his unseen mother.
When Marion takes a shower in her room, a sudden knife attack brings her life to an end. Upon discovering her body Norman covers up the murder, but it is not long before Marion's sister and boyfriend are attempting to track her down.

A young nurse, Alma, is put in charge of Elisabeth Vogler: an actress who is seemingly healthy in all respects, but will not talk. As they spend time together, Alma speaks to Elisabeth constantly, never receiving any answer. Alma eventually confesses her secrets to a seemingly sympathetic Elisabeth and finds that her own personality is being submerged into Elisabeth's persona.

Ingmar Bergman's most acclaimed film is a haunting allegory set in the Middle Ages, where a disillusioned knight (Max von Sydow) returning home from the Crusades is challenged by Death (Bengt Ekerot) to a game of chess, with humans as pawns. Iranian couple Emad (Hosseini) and Rana (Alidoosti) are performing together in a production of Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman when they are forced to leave their crumbling, unsafe home in Tehran.

They think they've gotten lucky when they find a new apartment nearby, previously occupied by a sex worker. When Emad returns home one night to find Rana has been attacked in their new home by one of the previous occupant's clients, the violent incident causes cracks to appear in the couple's previously stable and happy marriage.

Rana, shaken and afraid, pleads with Emad to go to the police but he would rather find the attacker himself and have his revenge. The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.
